Why we added physiotherapy

Most people get pain relief. Far fewer get their capacity back.

Pain settling and being ready for work, sport or life are two different finish lines. The gap between them is where most rehab quietly stops — the appointments end, the pain creeps back, and the cycle starts again.

Adding physiotherapy lets us own that whole journey. Hands-on care when you’re sore and guarded, structured strength and conditioning once you’re moving, from clinicians who talk to each other daily.
  • Manual therapy, dry needling and movement retraining for acute injuries
  • A seamless in-house step up to Exercise Physiology when you’re ready to load
  • Objective measures at every stage, so progress is proven rather than assumed
  • One team, one record, one plan — you never repeat your story

What we treat

From a niggle you’ve ignored for months to the day after surgery.

Our physiotherapists treat the full range of musculoskeletal injuries across all ages and activity levels.

Back and neck pain

Disc injuries, sciatica, postural pain and stiffness that won’t shift.

Shoulder injuries

Rotator cuff tears, impingement, frozen shoulder and instability.

Knee and hip pain

Ligament and meniscal injuries, tendinopathy, osteoarthritis.

Post-surgical rehab

Joint replacements, reconstructions, spinal surgery and fracture recovery.

Sporting injuries

Acute strains and sprains through to return-to-sport testing.

Workplace injuries

Manual handling strains, repetitive strain and whole-body fatigue.

Headaches and jaw pain

Cervicogenic headaches, tension headaches and TMJ dysfunction.

Ankle, foot and wrist

Sprains, plantar heel pain, tendon injuries and overuse conditions.
How it works

Three stages. A clear finish line from the first visit.

You’ll know what’s wrong, what we’re doing about it and roughly how long it will take before you leave your first appointment.

Stage 1

Assess

A full assessment of the injury and the demands you need to meet — your job, your sport, your life. We explain the diagnosis in plain language and set measurable goals.

Stage 2

Treat

Hands-on treatment to settle symptoms, paired with a loading program from day one. Manual therapy, dry needling, taping and exercise, matched to the stage you’re at.

Stage 3

Build and discharge

We progress you into strength and conditioning — with our Exercise Physiologists where that’s the right call — and test you against your goals before we sign off.
Fees and funding

However you’re funded, we’ve worked with it before.

We’re an approved provider across the major schemes and handle the reporting and approvals directly, so you’re not chasing paperwork between appointments.

WorkCover and icare

If you have an injured work claim, your treatment is covered. We manage reporting and approvals with your insurer and employer.

CTP and life insurance

If you have a CTP or life insurance claim, your treatment is covered. Motor accident and income protection claims, with the objective reporting insurers need.

NDIS

Available to self-managed, plan-managed and agency-managed participants.

Medicare (EPC / CDM)

Up to five subsidised visits a year with a GP care plan for eligible chronic conditions.

DVA

Gold and White Card holders with a D904 referral from your GP.

Private health and self-funded

Claim on the spot with your extras cover. No referral needed — just book.

Frequently Asked Questions

Physiotherapy questions, answered.

Not if you’re paying privately or claiming on private health — just book. You will need a referral for Medicare EPC care plans, DVA, WorkCover, and CTP. If you’re not sure which applies, call us and we’ll sort it out with you.

Physiotherapists diagnose and treat injuries, using hands-on techniques such as manual therapy and dry needling alongside early-stage exercise to settle pain and restore movement. Exercise Physiologists specialise in the next phase — therapeutic exercise that rebuilds strength, capacity and conditioning for your specific job or sport demands. Having both in-house means you move between them without a new referral or a fresh assessment.

Appointments are usually available within 72 hours. Call us or book online and we’ll find you the earliest suitable time at our Waratah clinic.

Yes, if your policy includes extras cover for physiotherapy. You can claim on the spot at our Waratah clinic. The rebate depends on your fund and level of cover — check with your insurer for the exact amount.

Yes. We’re an established WorkCover, CTP and life insurance provider, with fortnightly stakeholder updates, monthly progress reports and case-conference attendance already standard across our caseload. Physiotherapy now sits alongside that service.

Mobile physiotherapy is available for WorkCover patients — workplace assessments, home visits and sessions at a local gym across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens and the Hunter Valley. All other physiotherapy appointments run from our Waratah clinic. Our Exercise Physiologists continue to offer mobile visits under every funding type.

Not yet — physiotherapy currently consults from Waratah only. Exercise Physiology is available at Raymond Terrace as usual, and WorkCover patients in the Port Stephens area can be seen by our physiotherapist at their workplace, home or local gym.

Comfortable clothing you can move and exercise in. If we’re assessing a knee or hip, shorts are ideal; for a shoulder or neck, a singlet or loose t-shirt works best.
